The Golfing Union of Ireland

The Golfing Union of Ireland, which was founded in 1891, is the oldest Golf Union in the world.   Today there are 408 affiliated clubs, with over 250,000 members. In order to ensure that the game enjoys a very high standard in Ireland, and that players can compete with the best in international competition, the Golfing Union of Ireland has a Coaching Management Committee which arranges regular training and coaching sessions.

The success of the Coaching programmers can be gauged by the marvelous performances of the leading lights on the European professional Tour, most of whom have graduated through the ranks of the Golfing Union of Ireland's structure.  Inter-club tournaments are organised at all levels of handicaps in addition to the many championships for the different age groups.

This has all led to a major tourist attraction for golfers from abroad, who have helped in no uncertain manner to boost the Irish economy as a result of their regular and growing visits to a country which is now firmly established as one of the world's golf havens.
