Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake

This April, the first sailing boat of 2017 left the harbour of Annapolis again and the kids were exhausted from having too much fun! If you’re planning on something special for your kiddos, this is it! Book your tickets ahead and let them sail, or sail with them, into the ocean. Dress up as pirates, use the water cannons and search for the hidden treasure. This adventure promises great fun and certainly won’t leave you disappointed. Departing from Third Street 311, the boats depart at least 6 times a day.

Annapolis City Dock

The perfect position to get to all sights in Annapolis. See St John’s College, walk to the Naval Academy, grab a bite at a local restaurant or head off to the Maritime Museum. Walk to Ego Alley and watch yachts as they come and go. See the harbour master cruising around and sip a coffee at Starbucks. How about a Frappuccino?

Family Fishing Adventures

Explore the harbour of Annapolis during this hands-on fishing adventure. Learn how to catch and release fish, how to haul and bait crab and oyster traps and discover the local marine life. Have an outdoor experience with the whole family to never forget. The ship leaves only four times each day and a tour lasts a little less than two hours. Book your tickets in advance to reserve your spot. Online booking is not possible.

Annapolis Downtown Playground

At 199 Green Street, very close to the harbour, you’ll find a children’s playground. It’s a perfect place to play for the younger ages. The location is great and there are lots of sliding, climbing, swinging possibilities. The floor is sandy so keep in mind to make your kids wear closed shoes.

Crack into some crabs

The blue crab is the local dish of the city of Annapolis. We’re not really surprised as Annapolis is one of the main sailing cities in the United States. The crab is well-known for its buttery flavour and it’s a must try. It’s served at many places throughout the city but of course, you’re looking for the best one, which we think is Cantler’s Riverside Inn. There’s one problem to the place: It’s always crowded but of course, that’s for a good reason. Another great option is O’Leary’s, located ideally at Third Street.

Quiet Waters Park

A $12 million-dollar park in the middle of Maryland, opened in 1990. Spread over 340 acres, it allows for some peaceful moments within the family. Enjoy walking trails, let your kids play on playgrounds and don’t forget to bring your picnic hamper for a relaxing afternoon in the sun. Paddles can be rented to explore Harness Creek if you’re up for something adventurous instead.

Sandy Point State Park

Located at the Western end of Chesapeake Bay, this is a recreational area for family and friends. It’s the perfect place to look at the Thomas Point Lighthouse or explore the Sandy Point Farmhouse. The park offers beaches, fishing, crabbing, boat rentals, wildlife and some forest trails. Get out of the city for a day and enjoy the peacefulness nature has to offer.
