Our environmental Objectives are:
- Committed to reducing our energy consumption and associated greenhouse gas in particularly C02 emissions.
- To Adopt best practice in waste management – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and as a last resort disposal.
- Create a Green team within the hotels and to encourage our employees to reduce their carbon foot print within the workplace and at home.
- To communicate and encourage our customers to help us achieve our environmental goals.
- Work with the local community by initiating environmental initiatives on-site and encouraging local environmental initiatives.
- Work with suppliers who have good environmental policies to reduce packaging waste and improve the environmental impact of all products purchased.
- We aim to provide a healthy working environment that will enhance the well-being of our employee’s guest and the natural environment.
Sustainable Policy and Practices
- We aim to minimise energy use, maintain high level of awareness of the need for energy efficiency among our staff through training and strategies for promoting energy conservation and awareness.
- Use IT in a strategic manner in order to reduce our carbon footprint.
- Energy usage by individual hotels will be monitored on a regular basis with results been reported monthly to GM’s.
- Alternative energy sources are explored and are used when possible.
To achieve our environmental objectives and develop, implement and monitor our actions we have appointed a team to undertake the task of driving our environmental policy going forward. We encourage all our employees to bring any ideas and suggestions they have to this team so that we can do our part in passing on a safer world to future generations.
The energy team will have responsibility for implementing the policy and ensuring the policy matches with company culture. We will adopt a phased approach to our environmental policy and have a small number of targets which will be communicated to all staff. These targets will be monitored monthly and our performance will be communicated to all members of staff.
Support in the Local Community
Great Irish Bake 2016 in aid of Temple Street Children’s Hospital
O’Callaghan Hotels took part in the Great Irish Bake for Temple Street once again this year and raised a grand total of €6,500 for Temple Street University Children’s Hospital. The bake took place on April 7th in Oscar’s Bar & Kitchen at the Mont Clare Hotel. The 3 O’Callaghan Merrion Square Hotels went head to head in an “Apprentice” style competition with one aim, to raise a maximum of funds for 1 great cause. In the end, there was no winner as we decided just to throw it all in one pot. There were over 20 members of both the O’Callaghan Hotels and support office staff who were present on the day and a lot of help was also given by some of our suppliers who ensured that the day was a success with their generous support. Thank you to everyone who helped us on this special occasion.
Temple Street Children’s University Hospital
As part of the community, the O’Callaghan Hotel Group are delighted to be able to support local worthy causes and have selected Temple Street Children’s University Hospital Charity, as our main charity. The charity provides funds to purchase critical medical equipment such as CT and MRI scanners, to maintain buildings and wards, and to make the hospitalisation of the children and their families less stressful. Temple Street University Hospital treats over 50,000 children each year. More information can be found on their website and donations can be made directly TempleStreet.ie. Our second charity of the year is Olivia’s special Horses, fighting for the good cause of special treatment through horses for disabled kids. 24 Hour Bake-Off in aid of Temple Street Children’s University Hospital
O Callaghan Hotels would like to say a huge thank you to all involved in lastyears 24 Hour Bake-Off.It was a great success and was extremely enjoyable for all involved. We are delighted to announce that €5000 was raised for Temple Street Children’s hospital thanks to this charity event.
All of the team at O Callaghan Hotels are looking forward to more exciting projects later this year in aid of Temple Street Children’s University Hospital as well as our 2016 bake off which we hope will be even bigger and better!
Landsdowne Minis & Youth Team
The Lansdowne Minis & Youth Team was established to provide a safe, fun and friendly environment for children through rugby each Sunday, where they can develop friendships based on the principles of fairness and trust.
When it comes to the game itself, it’s obvious that the children put their hearts and souls into the match as they fight hard to gain each point. Luckily, the Irish Red Cross are on hand if things become too competitive!
The Landsdowne Minis accept players, both girls and boys, from 5years upwards who develop a range of skills, fitness and dexterity in a fun environment, where healthy sport is at the centre of their activity.
The club is managed by an army of volunteers and parents are encouraged to participate both in coaching and the ongoing development of the club.

Who We are
O’Callaghan Hotels are one of the leading privately owned hotel groups in Ireland. The O’Callaghan Hotel Group was established in 1990 when the first hotel, the Mont Clare opened in Dublin. Over the years the Group has opened four hotels in Dublin, The Davenport Hotel in 1993, The Alexander Hotel in 1997 and The Stephen’s Green Hotel in 2000. Each hotel is unique in its style and offerings, from traditional to modern contemporary and boutique style. One thing they all have in common is the location. Each hotel is perfectly located in down town Dublin close to cultural attractions and some of Dublin’s main financial, convention and business districts.
While developing its portfolio in Dublin, the O’Callaghan Hotel Group continued its expansion internationally by opening two international properties the first in Gibraltar in 1996 and the second in Annapolis, Maryland in USA.
Over the years the hotels have undergone a number of refurbishments and enhancements to maintain the excellent and personable service levels and facilities.
